Join our Food Chain
Each year, our Food Chain donors provide support to help us grow! Your generous gifts nourish our educational programming and help our facility to really shine. The extra support makes it possible for each person to have the best quality visitor experience. Thank you for your donation!

North American Monarch Butterfly (up to $99 annually): Brightly colored and patterned, these amazing butterflies journey thousands of miles each year to find a suitable habitat. Your gift at this level helps make the Nature Center one of those butterfly friendly places.
King Snake ($100-$199 annually): attractive and a welcome defender against more harmful woodland reptiles. We want lots of these snakes to be around!
River Otter ($200-249 annually): At home both on land and in water, river otter mothers use play to teach their young the skills they need to live in the wild. Because otters spend so much time at play, gifts at this level will be dedicated to creating and maintaining children's play areas at the Center.
Great Horned Owls ($250 - $499 annually): The largest of this region's native owls, great horned owls see their environment from every possible angle because of their flexible neck and extraordinary vision
Raccoons (gifts of $500 - $999 annually): With their acute sense of smell, above average intelligence and keen hearing and sight, bandit faced raccoons problem solve very well.
Red Foxes (gifts of $1,000 - $1,999 annually): Beautiful and speedy, red foxes are clever at recognizing and adapting to all opportunities and environments.
Little Cubs program (gifts of $5-$15 from those 10 and under): The Little Cubs program is designed for children to be able to give to the animals of the Nature Center in pint sized amounts. With their generous gifts, children can learn about the power of giving and help the Nature Center animals, too!
APPALACHIAN FRIENDS - CAPITAL DONOR LEVELS
These generous donors make contributions to specific facilities and programs at the Nature Center. Call ahead to Kimberly Brewster at the Friends office, 828-298-0182 to learn more about our capital facility needs. You may also e-mail to friends@wildwnc.org.

Black Bears (gifts of $2,000 or more annually): the largest animal in the Appalachian Mountains with a generous sized heart to match. Common in the dense woods, but hard to find because of their secretive nature.
Red Tail Hawk (gifts of $2,500 - $3,499 annually): This distinctly marked predator, the most common hawk in North America, has keen eyesight and a broad perspective to sense opportunities ahead.
White Tailed Deer (gifts of $3,500 - $4,999 annually): Beautiful and familiar in Western North Carolina, this powerful deer gracefully springs into action when the need is there.
Cougars (gifts of $5,000 - $9,999 annually): A cat of many names, these secretive animals prefer to take their time when hunting to make sure they get what they want.
Red Wolves (gifts of $10,000 or more annually): an endangered species. The Nature Center through its Reproduction program is working to ensure the red wolf's survival and increase their numbers in the wild. We want to increase their numbers at the Nature Center too!
