10am – 2pm
This is a statewide invitation to all schools (public, private and home school families) to participate in this year’s Festival of Knowledge. Posters, displays, and three-dimensional creations will be judged for information, creativity, and workmanship. Dimension of these exhibits must be at least three feet in length and two feet in height. They must be able to stand on their own or have physical support from the back – please no hanging or leaning items on the walls. Tripods and easels are recommended as support systems. Please bring table clothes, tape, markers, and any other display materials you may need to set up your creations.
The three categories you may enter your display in are as follows:
1. “Build a Bug” (an actual insect species or create an imaginary one)
2. “Cultural History (Native American Indian or colonial lifestyles)”
3. “Natural History (NC animal or plant species)”.
Contact the Nature Center to pre-register by calling (828) 259-8082. Deadline for registration is March 18. Judging will take place beginning at 12:00pm on Saturday, March 23, 2013. Certificates of accomplishments and ribbons will be awarded to each contestant. You need not be present to win or accept prizes.
