Howl-O-Ween

Our traditional Howl-O-Ween event with new operating hours for the day: 1:00-8:00pm. Admission is $6.00 per person with Members receiving $1.00 off per person at the door. See our list of evening activities!

A new twist to our Howl-O-Ween event - our hours of operation will begin at 1:00pm and end at 8:00pm.  We will have the marvelously talented Mountain Marionettes performing 2 shows (7:00 and 7:40pm), arts and crafts for the kids, face painting, the Howl-O-Ween Family Feud game, animal enrichment programs and lots of yummy snacks for sale.  Our Creepy Crawler Cabin will be back with special guest stars such as arachnids, insects, large worms, rodents, and flying mammals. Back by popular demand, our Costume Contest will be held early this year:
6:30pm for children ages 1-10 and 7:30pm for youth ages 11- 17.  Times may change, so please call ahead to confirm. Come in costume for a fun evening of Howl-O-Ween cheer!

Hot Drinks & Snacks

Hot chocolate and cider can be purchased outside the Main Exhibit Building near the Otter Pond.

 

“Arts, Crafts and Treat Bag Decorating” 

Create your own treat bag at the cougar habitat along with some great Howl-O-Ween crafts!!!

 

“Creepy Crawler Cabin”

Visit our Log Cabin and view creepy animals of the night.

 

Howl-O-Ween Treat Bags 

Pick up your trick-or-treat bags as you leave the Center either at the barn exit or in the main lobby area.

 

Face Painting  

Located in the Nature Lab, join us for some creative fun!

 

Apples & Caramel 

Dip a slice of fresh apple into some caramel sauce for a taste of fall!  Come see us near the Log Cabin.

 

Southern Appalachian Herpetological Club

See a wonderful display of reptiles in our Nature Lab.

Costume Contest

The Petting Area at the barn area will be your location for the costume contest which starts at 6:30pm.      

There are five age categories:

One day old – Two years

Three – Five years

Six – Eight years

Nine – Twelve years

Thirteen – Seventeen years

Events

1:45“Who’s the Fastest Cat?” (enrichment at the Bobcat habitat)

2:00 – “Myth Busters” – Have a question for our keepers? Lots of animal myths and trivia will be shared with slideshow. Come to the classroom and meet KC Weeks for this very special presentation.

3:00 - Family Feud Game in the barn.  All participants win a prize!

4:00 - Family Feud Game in the barn.  Round two of the game.

4:45 “Slip, Slide and Away” (enrichment at the Otter Pond)

5:00 – “Myth Busters” – Have a question for our keepers? Lots of animal myths and trivia will be shared with slideshow. Come to the classroom and meet KC Weeks for this very special presentation.
